Hope Above Fear was established in January 2023, just two months after our Founder and Executive Director tragically lost her 18-year-old son, Isaiah Shepard, to fentanyl poisoning. From unimaginable loss came an unwavering mission: to create awareness, advocate for change, and provide hope to youth and families impacted by substance use.

What began as one mother’s grief has grown into a powerful, community-driven movement reaching thousands across Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. Over the past year alone, Hope Above Fear has expanded its impact through school prevention presentations, youth leadership initiatives, teen gatherings, awareness campaigns, and the launch of the an early intervention diversion program in partnership with Escambia County Public Schools.

In recognition of Red Ribbon Week, the Unmask the Fear Gala brings our community together for an unforgettable evening dedicated to prevention, resilience, healing, and hope.

Our mission remains simple, yet urgent: to prevent substance misuse, empower youth, and support families because every young person deserves the opportunity to rise above fear and write a different story.
