Georgie was a happy five week old kitten. Weighing just over one pound, he was beginning to explore and play in the world. Unfortunately, he bounded too hard, catching his arm and getting it stuck overnight when people weren't able to help him. He fought to get it loose, but severely injured his arm in the process; breaking it in multiple places and leaving a large open wound near his shoulder.

Thankfully, he was brought into the emergency vet, who found multiple fractures. They were also very concerned about the high risk of infection from the open wound. They knew his injury would require an amputation, and due to the cost of the operation and the necessary post-operation care, they would need to partner with a local rescue. They called multiple local organizations, but 9 Lives Rescue made the decision to take him in.

Luckily for Georgie, cats who need an amputation go on to live extremely happy lives, capable of moving around and running as if they never had an injury. The vet referred to cats as "being born with 3 legs and a spare" to emphasize how happy his future life would be. However, without your support, 9 Lives would not be able to take in cases like Georgie, and he would be left to suffer, unable to get the care that will save his life.
