Defend Immigrant Families in Lane County

Did you know that Eugene is home to an ICE administrative office inside the federal building downtown? It’s here that immigrant families come for required check-ins—moments meant to safeguard their legal rights. But too often, those check-ins end in detention.

The numbers tell the story:

In June 2025 alone, 39 people were detained in Eugene—more than the total of the previous four months combined.
That’s a four-fold increase in detentions compared to the same period last year.
Nearly half of those detained had no criminal history.
Since October 2025 we have seen at least 32 abductions in our community, no warrant and no due process.

This surge is devastating for our neighbors, families, and students—many of whom are taken straight from our community and sent north to detention centers in Tacoma.

Rapid Response Lane County (RRLC) is a volunteer-run network that shows up outside the ICE office to bear witness, support families, connect people to legal help, and track detentions. We are entirely grassroots—no staff, no salaries, just community members standing together in solidarity to resist detention and deportation.
