Night of the Living Dead™ Live is a fun and hilarious re-imagining of George A. Romero’s legendary 1968 classic. The play lovingly examines the movie itself, the period in which it was made, and the film’s undying influence on the horror genre. More than just a recreation of the story, the play celebrates the history and influence of the movie.

Through a series of multiple endings, the characters are all faced with different issues and challenges while desperately trying to survive the night. However, their contrasting personalities and agendas always seem to prevent the group from working together. Which leaves us all wondering: Could anyone survive a night of the living dead? Rated PG13

Cyclopedic Ensemble’s first production was in July, 2022. As part of the KC Fringe Fest, we produced The Stinky Cheese Man and other Fair(ly) (stoopid) Tales on City Stage in Kansas City’s Union Station. Our production, directed by Eric Yazell, won KC Fringe Best of City Stage”. Our second production will be Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience in the KC Fringe Fest was July 22-29, 2023. Since then we've produced Dragons Love Tacos (June 2024), Pete the Cat, a musical (June 2025); two more shows in the KC Fringe Festival Romantic Fools (2024) & The Others (2025), Dracula, A Comedy of Terrors (Oct/Nov 2024).

When Cyclopedic Ensemble was first created, the entire mission was to build upon Eric Yazell’s accomplished work, in bringing Children’s Theatre to as many new audiences as possible. At State Fair Community College (SFCC) he was able to direct, and present children’s shows every year that brought thousands of elementary school students joy. Because SFCC was located in a rural region of Missouri, this was often the first time many children had ever seen a live, quality theatrical production. After retiring from teaching, Eric decided to create a group that would continue the tradition he had built for many years. Several of his former students and his wife created “Cyclopedic Ensemble”, a non-profit organization.
