Be part of the amazing John Templeton Foundation Grant in Mongolia!! We need to raise $25,000 by December 1st to bring as many students and legal professionals as possible to the 2027 Delegation!

Judge Joe Spurlock believed that legal institutions depend on the character of the people who serve them. This led him to instill leadership, service, and ethics in every law student he taught and to help Mongolia develop its democratic institutions.

Having received a grant from the John Templeton Foundation, the Spurlock Judicial Fund is excited to begin a three-year process following Judge Joe’s footsteps. Each year, Spurlock Judicial Fund travels to Mongolia with Texas judges, attorneys, and students to teach Texas law. Your donations help ensure the Spurlock Judicial Fund continues to educate Texas students and give them a unique opportunity to serve as delegation members.

"Working with Mongolian and Texan legal professionals on their democratic reforms showed me how business, policy, and human connection align on an international scale. This delegation taught me how to lead with adaptability in high-stakes environments, shaping my career vision for global impact." - Claire, BU Class of 2027

"My trip to Mongolia transformed my understanding of negotiation and service. Seeing the rule of law and complex negotiations in action, rather than simply learning about them in a classroom, gave me a deeper appreciation for effective advocacy. I learned that advocacy is built on preparation, strategy, and empathy, and the experience reinforced my goal of attending law school and using my skills to serve others." -Mallory, BU Class of 2028

"“Observing Mongolia’s legal system prompted me to evaluate the aspects of our justice system that I used to take for granted, appreciate the forethought of our nation’s founders in granting us constitutional rights that are absent in most countries, and consider how the American system could be improved.” - Melanie, Texas A&M Law 2025

In addition, your donation will also go to work in Mongolia and Texas, training judges and lawyers in the virtues necessary to uphold the Rule of Law. Baylor and the Spurlock Judicial Fund are working to enhance integrity, practical wisdom, civic humility, moral courage, and justice in our judicial institutions.
