What began as the "Shade Committee"—made up of both parents and staff from BCSIS & High Peaks—is evolving into a healthy, green, climate-resilient outdoor classrooms committee that imagines and executes improvements to and takes care of our campus' entire landscape and outdoor features.

In the Spring of 2023 we received $5,000 worth of donated trees from the PLAY Boulder Foundation's Tree Trust, which are thriving on campus! We've also received contributions from BVSD to buy plants for our pollinator gardens, as well as in-kind service donations from local arborists We Love Trees.

Let's match these donations from the broader community with $5,000 from our combined BCSIS/High Peaks school community to continue making our campus a green schoolyards model for the entire district, and beyond!

We are working to create healthy and biodiverse outdoor spaces that mitigate extreme heat and sequester carbon, support kids’ wellbeing, learning about nature, and even provide habitat for native pollinators and birds!
