There will be resource information available from some trunks regarding services for people with disabilities
Come anytime between 10 AM - 12 PM for all ages trunk-or-treating (cars will pack up at 12 PM, so please arrive in time to visit the trunks before 11:45 AM)

INFORMATION FOR OUR WONDERFUL TRUNK VOLUNTEERS

In case of a cancellation:

We are very grateful to you for volunteering to host a trunk, but we understand that things happen that may affect your participation. In order to ensure a robust experience for our registered families, we politely request that you let us know if you will be unable to attend. Please contact Kelly Conlon, Event Coordinator, at (585) 248-9011 x124 or email: kconlon@autismup.org.

Event will be held rain or shine. In case of an unforeseen weather emergency cancellation, we will email you as quickly as possible.

What to bring:

Each car should bring candy or non-candy treats for about 200 participants. Organizations serving individuals with autism, and/or other disabilities, are encouraged to display and/or provide information about your services - after all, parents will be attending too!

Please bring your own table and chair(s) if needed, as well as containers for the treats you are giving out, and of course any information/materials you wish to offer to families.

If you need inspiration for decorating your trunk,
- build a theme around a favorite movie, character, etc
- promote your business/organization/services

About our Trick-or-Treaters

Please welcome all ages
Costumes are optional
Some trick-or-treaters may be unable to say "trick or treat" or "thank you"
A few may try to reach into your container and/or take many items. Do not allow this. Be kind and firm. Feel confident to put your hand over the container or move the container. You can say "just one, please" or something similar.
Kids who need assistance will have a parent/caregiver/helper with them
Even if they do have a helper, speak to/focus primarily on the trick-or-treater when handing out treats
They just want to have fun (and treats!), despite whatever their challenges may be. Most will follow your lead - smile, be friendly, act comfortable.
SAFETY FIRST: This is an active parking lot adjacent to several roads. Individuals with autism and related disabilities may wander or run. Please be very careful when arriving to and departing from the event, or moving your vehicle.
