About Us:

Women's and Children's Crisis Shelter (WCCS) is committed to providing safety, shelter, and hope to victims of domestic violence. We believe that people should be treated with respect and dignity and have the right to live without fear of violence. We believe in the empowerment of victims of domestic violence, the responsibility to take action, and the need to engage the community. Learn more about WCCS here.

About The Campaign:

Did you know strengthening and improving existing shelter sites will help promote better experiences and outcomes for clients? Our campaign strives to beautify the rooms at our shelter in order to provide Trauma-Informed Care. We want our clients to feel calm and safe in our space, which can be done by creating a warm and bright environment. This design will only allow our clients to grow and heal from their traumas of domestic violence. By making a contribution you will help us become one step closer to providing this safe and nurturing space for our clients!

We plan to have this project completed by Summer 2025.

Trauma is a leading health concern in the U.S., impacting 6 in 10 people, and disproportionately impacting residents of affordable housing.

A sense of agency, representation and choice is important for all people, especially in affordable housing communities where many residents, historically, have been impacted by decisions made without their voice or consent.

Promoting recovery and healing happens with the appropriate social and spatial supports. Therefore, spaces in the built environment should evoke hope, resiliency, and imagination.
