About the Wilmington Community Orchestra

The Wilmington Community Orchestra, a program of The Music School of Delaware, brings together talented musicians from across the region to share the power and joy of live orchestral music with the community. Under the direction of Joseph Hodge, the orchestra presents dynamic performances that feature beloved classical masterworks, exciting contemporary repertoire, and collaborations with student and guest artists. The ensemble reflects the Music School’s commitment to artistic excellence, lifelong learning, and community engagement, welcoming audiences of all backgrounds to experience inspiring live music in a warm and accessible environment.

About The Music School of Delaware

The Music School of Delaware is open to all and has something for everyone. The school offers on-site and virtual programming encompassing: private lessons in approximately 30 instruments and voice; early childhood classes; Suzuki Academy; orchestral, choral, and small ensembles for children and adults; group instruction; music history and musicianship classes; and programs especially for adults. Instruction is offered in classical, rock, jazz, and folk genres. The school presents public performances annually. The Music School has continuously operated since its founding in 1924. The only statewide community music school in the nation, The Music School of Delaware is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Pre-Collegiate Arts Schools, and by the National Association of Schools of Music, and is a charter member of the National Guild for Community Arts Education. The Music School received Delaware’s Governor’s Award for the Arts in 2010.

About Rockwood Museum

Joseph Shipley, a Quaker merchant banker, built Rockwood between 1851 and 1854. Its Gothic Revival architecture and enchanting landscape were designed to reflect the beauty of an English country estate.

The museum reflects the way the Bringhurst family, descendants of Shipley, lived during the turn of the 20th century.
