In 2018, in partnership with Community Foundation of Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties, Melissa Hinton spearheaded an initiative to open the first women’s recovery house in Loudoun County VA. Loudoun Serenity House opened in the town of Leesburg, VA in October 2020 after the tragic loss of Melissa’s younger sister Rachel in 2019 from her addiction. With an outpouring of community support, a men's house was also opened in November 2021.

In June of 2023, through Loudoun County grants and private donors, LSH opened a Recovery Community Center in downtown Leesburg. We host many group meetings, peer counseling, referral programs and have full-time staff answering phones, emails and texts for those in need of recovery services! The center is at 29 N King Street Leesburg VA and all services are free.
