About the Fund
After Hurricane Helene hit in 2024, many local birth workers were struggling to care for families while facing financial strain themselves. This fund was created as a rapid mutual aid response — and has since grown into a vision for long-term, community-rooted care.

What This Fund Supports

Financial support for birth workers offering sliding-scale care
Postpartum care supplies for families who otherwise go without
Circle gatherings, peer support, and education for care workers
Mutual aid rooted in community, not systems

This is not a nonprofit.
We are not a 501(c)(3). This is a mutual aid effort led by a network of community birth workers in WNC. Donations are not tax-deductible, but every dollar goes directly to those doing the labor of care.

Why This Matters
Birth workers often provide essential support without stable pay or institutional backing. This fund exists to honor and uphold that care — not as charity, but as reciprocity.
