The West Philly Tool Library has been a community hub for DIY, education, and sustainability for EIGHTEEN years and we're facing an unprecedented crisis.

For eighteen years we've called 1314 S 47th St our home, but our lease was not renewed and we will need to find a home before the end of the 2025.

In order to make this move a success we'll need to cover significant costs associated with repairs and interior build-out at the new space as well as moving costs. We estimate we will need to raise $50,000 total for this effort. We are reaching out to our network to help us get our space ready for classes, tool borrowing, and more – let's create the West Philly Tool Library of the future!

New to the Tool Library?

The West Philly Tool Library loans tools to community members so they can perform simple home maintenance, tend their yards and gardens, build furniture, start projects, and learn new skills in a safe and affordable manner. We aim to be a community resource to provide home owners, tenants, long-time residents, and newcomers with the tools (and the knowledge) they need.

Since our founding in 2007, we have loaned over 100,000 tools and have welcomed over 4,000 members. We host popular weekly classes on everything from bike repair to building your own charcuterie board!

Campaign Updates!

10/19/25 - We surpassed $20,000! This is HUGE for us and we cannot thank all of our supporters enough. Let's keep going!

10/25/25 - Thank you to everyone for coming out to our fundraiser! Pumpkin carving, raffle items from amazing local businesses and nonprofits, and testimonials from our staff, teachers, volunteers, and board was an awesome time! We had an absolute blast and raised another $7,641!

11/04/25 - We just surpassed $35,000! We are over 70% of the way to our goal! Moving has started and we have had amazing volunteers come out to help us this past weekend!

11/16/25 - We just announced our new home to our members and email subscribers with the news going out on our Instagram and to the media tomorrow 11/17. Giving Tuesday is coming up and we are continuing our campaign to reach our goal!
