The Blues Backers (PTO) are the unsung heroes who work behind the scenes to ensure Washburn Rural High School shines brightly. We support all students' academic and extracurricular pursuits and stand by the dedicated staff who make them possible. Through the generosity of volunteer time and financial contributions, we collectively enhance the experiences that shape our students' futures.

One of the ways we support our community is through our concession stands, which provide a fantastic opportunity for teams, clubs, and activity groups to raise essential funds. Coaches, sponsors, Jr. Blues, visiting teams, and fans unite in this effort, knowing that every purchase of a beverage, food, or snack helps to cover program expenses and enrich the WaRu student experience.

Additionally, we bring the community together with our much-anticipated annual Post Prom event. This late-night festivity offers a safe, entertaining, and memorable alternative to traditional after-prom activities. With food, games, and prizes, we create a fun and secure environment, reducing the risk of harmful decisions and ensuring our teenagers have a night to remember for the right reasons. (Pro Tip: Post Prom is for all juniors, seniors, and their guests of any grade. Whether they attend prom or not, they should still come to the party!)
