At My Life In A Bag Foundation, we believe that every young person deserves to carry their belongings with dignity—not in trash bags, but in sturdy luggage filled with essentials that reflect their worth. But we don’t stop there. Our mission extends beyond the bag to provide the support, stability, and resources that youth in foster care, group homes, and homelessness need to thrive.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’ve hosted incredible events that uplift and inspire our youth:
🎃 Treat or Read – Encouraging literacy in a fun, safe, and engaging way.
🛼 Skate Jam – Creating a space for youth to feel joy and connection.
🎤 Bingo Night – Bringing together supporters to raise funds while fostering community.
👟 Annual Gala Sneaker Ball – Celebrating the resilience of our youth while raising crucial funds.

Now, we are taking our impact even further with the Beyond the Bag Project—a transformational initiative focused on mental health, reading literacy, nutrition, and mentorship.

🧠 Mental Health Support – Many youth in foster care struggle with trauma, anxiety, and depression. Through partnerships with therapists, counselors, and mental health professionals, we will provide access to the care they need to heal and grow.

📚 Reading Literacy – Literacy is power. We are partnering with organizations like Ready Readers to ensure every youth receives books in their luggage, along with volunteer educators who will dedicate time to improving their reading skills.

🥗 Nutrition & Wellness – A healthy body fuels a healthy mind. Many youth face poor eating habits due to lack of education, resources, or medication side effects. With the help of personal trainers, dietitians, and wellness experts, we will teach them how to nourish their bodies and develop lifelong healthy habits.

🤝 Mentorship & Guidance – Stability isn’t just about where you live—it’s about who supports you. Whether through teachers, big brothers and sisters, or community mentors, we will provide youth with the guidance they need to navigate life successfully.
