Yamiah Torrence's Story

Fundraising for an organization focused on improving maternal health outcomes for Black mothers in the community is driven by a profound recognition of the urgent need to address systemic inequities and injustices in healthcare. Black mothers in many communities face disproportionately high rates of maternal mortality and morbidity, stemming from many issues such as racial bias, socioeconomic disparities, and inadequate access to quality care. Individuals passionate about social justice and health equity are motivated to fundraise for such organizations because they recognize that maternal health disparities are not only unacceptable but also entirely preventable with proper efforts and resources. By supporting initiatives aimed at improving maternal health outcomes for Black mothers, fundraisers seek to challenge and dismantle the structural barriers that perpetuate inequality within the healthcare system.

REGISTER to participate in the walk-in-person or virtual or attribute your support to someone if you wish 2. Become a fundraiser for the Walk, Run, and Stroll, by creating or joining an existing TEAM. Once you become a team, you can upload and post a personal statement to encourage others to support you. 3.
