Walk A Mile is more than a race, it’s a community event rooted in compassion, dignity, and connection. This family-friendly walk brings people together to raise awareness and support for children in Pickens County while celebrating the strength of our community. Following the walk, everyone is invited to stay for a FREE community resource fair, open to all, featuring local organizations and supports and concluding at 12:00 PM.

All funds raised through Walk A Mile go directly toward purchasing shoes for children in Pickens County. Children are identified by school social workers and are asked what type of shoes they would like. We do our best to honor those preferences, because choice matters. There are no applications, no paperwork, and no barriers. Just support offered with dignity and respect.

Pickens Family Connection is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and proud member of the Georgia Family Connection Partnership, the only statewide network of its kind in the nation.

We work alongside local schools, agencies, and community partners to support children and families and strengthen our community as a whole. By bringing people together, identifying gaps, and connecting families to resources, Family Connection helps ensure that support reaches those who need it, when they need it.
