What is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth -- also known as Jubilee Day, Liberation Day, and Freedom Day -- is a day to celebrate the emancipation of slaves in the United States. As one of the most important days in Black history, we are excited to bring the celebration to the heart of Walpole for the 3rd year! Festivities for the day include performances, children's activities, food and beverage trucks, and local vendor booths.

Organized and supported by Be Inclusive, Action Together Walpole, Dedham Coalition for Equity and Inclusion, Progress Norwood and Medfield Together, this important day serves as a day of celebration and community-building.

About Be Inclusive

Be Inclusive is a Black woman-led organization that creates inclusive communities by lifting the voices of historically underrepresented and marginalized community members while recognizing diverse cultures and intersectional experiences. This program supports healthy racial identity development and ongoing anti-racist learning through education, community events, programming, and resources.

We aim to support community members by creating a more welcoming, safe, and inclusive community. Programs include community cultural events and the delivery and increased visibility of multicultural books in schools and libraries. Learn more about Be Inclusive here: beinclusivema.org
