The Elakha Alliance is leading the charge to restore sea otters to Oregon’s coast, but we can’t do it without you. We Otter Bring Them Back is a critical fundraising and social media campaign running from May 9th–June 8th, 2025, and your donation directly supports our mission to bring this keystone species home.

For thousands of years, sea otters thrived along Oregon’s coastline, playing a vital role in maintaining the health of nearshore ecosystems. However, by the early 1900s, they were completely wiped out due to the maritime fur trade, leaving Oregon’s coastal waters without one of their most important predators. Without sea otters to keep sea urchin populations in check, kelp forests have declined dramatically, threatening the biodiversity and stability of marine habitats. Restoring sea otters means restoring balance—protecting kelp forests, fish populations, and the many species that depend on them.
