The Elakha Alliance is leading the effort to bring sea otters back to Oregon’s coast - but we can’t do it without your help. We Otter Bring Them Back returns for its second year as a month-long fundraising and social media campaign running June 8th–July 6th, 2026. Your support directly fuels our mission to restore this vital keystone species to Oregon’s nearshore waters. Plus, every registered Otter Advocate will receive a limited-edition campaign t-shirt when they register and purchase a 'ticket' to particpate!

For thousands of years, sea otters thrived along Oregon’s coastline, helping maintain healthy and balanced marine ecosystems. But by the early 1900s, they were hunted to local extinction during the maritime fur trade. Without sea otters to naturally control sea urchin populations, kelp forests have struggled to survive - impacting biodiversity, fish habitat, and the resilience of Oregon’s coastal ecosystems.

Bringing sea otters back means restoring balance to the ocean. Healthy kelp forests support countless marine species, help protect shorelines, and strengthen coastal ecosystems for future generations.

This year, our goal is to raise $12,000 to support the research, community outreach, education, and advocacy needed to advance sea otter restoration in Oregon. Every donation - no matter the size - helps move this vision forward and brings us one step closer to a healthier, more vibrant coast.
