Whitey has a journey ahead

Whitey and his partner Mr Jones were the last of what was once a 54 cat colony in coyote point park , San Mateo

A beloved favorite of their twice a day feeder/caretakers they were known as the Marina Boys as the spent their lives in the yacht harbor

Two months ago we noticed dark patches and an concerning growth on his nose which seemed to be getting worse so the decision was made to remove them both (they are bonded and inseparable)

Whitey was taken to coastal cat clinic Pacifica where he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma and referred to Sage Oncology Department where they determined that his best chance was the strontium therapy provided at UC Davis, a 90 mile trek from his San Mateo home

The sedated exam, labs and biopsy required to obtain diagnosis alone cost $1,384. His evaluation at Sage in Redwood City cost $2,600 and the strontium treatment he’s scheduled to undergo 3 July will cost $3,000 at Davis with an expected $2,000 in aftercare appointments and $1,000 for medication

100% of donations are for Whitey’s medical expenses, his daily care and maintenance is provided with love by his rescuers

Whitey is a sweet affectionate vocal otherwise healthy 15 year old who will have little comparative difficulty adjusting to a happy indoor “retirement “ from colony life

In his years in the park he and his partner brought an unspeakable amount of joy love and comfort to the dozen plus souls who were privileged to care for them

He isn’t “just a cat”, to us he’s an elderly poorly friend who’s no longer able to live on his own
