Survivors at the Summit started over 25 years ago, as an intense multi-day summit of Kings Peak to fly tribute flags to encourage, honor, and remember those impacted by a cancer diagnosis. Since that awe-inspiring beginning, over 5000 cancer survivors, caregivers, clinical staff, and community members have made the journey to a summit.

The #WhyIClimb Challenge:

From this year forward, we invite people of all abilities to complete the #WhyIClimb challenge between May and August 4 and then join us to celebrate all of our cancer survivors, their caregivers and those who climb for them at Survivors at the Summit on August 4 at Brighton Resort.

What is the Challenge?

In the spirit of the original summit of King's Peak:

Choose your "Why" - The cancer survivor(s) you want to honor.
Choose your Summit - A meaningful and achievable climb. All abilities and summits welcome!
Get Your Tribute Flags - Write your messages of encouragement or rememberance to honor your survivor(s).
Make Your Climb - Individually or with your crew, set a date and summit!
Attend Survivors at the Summit to celebrate your ascent, your survivor and the resilience of the cancer community!

Participating in the #WhyIClimb Challenge is simple:

Choose your "Why" - the cancer survivor(s) you want to encourage, honor, or remember and your Summit.
Register on this page as a team or individual participant, tell us Why You Climb and set a fund-raising goal.
Tribute Flags: Make or collect donations of $25 (or more!) to receive a tribute flag for each survivor you wish to honor. (A minimum $25 donation is required per flag, For 10 flags we ask for a donation of $200 or more.)
Email us here or call 801-236-2294 to set up a time to pick up your flag(s) or have them mailed to you.
Decorate your Tribute Flag. Start preparing for your climb and, along the way, hit your fundraising target!
Climb! Take your tribute flags to your summit, memorialize your journey and ascent, and share your pictures and videos on social media with the hashtags #WhyIClimb, #SuvivorsAtTheSummit, and #SurvivorWellness.

For over 25 years, Survivor Wellness, founded in 1997 as Cancer Wellness House, has provided the cancer survivor community with free and reduced cost wellness and integrative health care services and support in a home-like environment. Programming is provided free or at reduced cost for enrolled members, and includes: group and peer support; individual mental health counseling; individual integrative health care therapies (massage therapy, reiki, yoga therapy, etc.), group classes (yoga, qigong, mindfulness, etc.), community events, and more.

Programming at Survivor Wellness is funded by generous grants and donations from foundations, businesses, and individuals. We provide over 1000 user days per year of services and support, and around 65% of our clientele live at or below the Average Median Income.
