WELCOME TO COMMUNITY INVESTORS PLAYROX GIRLPOWER FLAG FOOTBALL!

Drop Off, Pick Ups: Drop Offs / Pick Ups and parking are @ Boston Sports Institute (900 Worcester St., Wellesley MA). Parents are always welcome to participate, playing catch with their child during warmups, helping to organize skill sessions or with game management. If interested, please email Info@communityinvestors.net or feel free to volunteer at the field.

Please have your child arrive with a drink, clearly labeled with her name. Gloves and mouth guards are recommended, but not required. Plastic or rubber cleats are allowed, but not required.

Our teams are structured by grade and school affiliation. As we welcome participants to the field, team and field assignments are provided.

Coaching & Supervision: Our programs are led by participants in our Student Coaching, Music and Media programs, managed by our program directors. Together our team strives to provide quality, fun focused, inclusive experiences for all participants to enjoy the great game of Flag Football!

Program Routine: As participants arrive they enjoy free play-- running around throwing balls to each other and our staff. We let the kids do their own thing, while supervising to make sure they are engaging in fun, safe and appropriate activities. Teams hold brief practice sessions to develop skills and prepare for their game. Our coaches play quarterback to help distribute the ball to everyone and create close games with exciting finishes. We coordinate substitutions to strive for equal playing time for everyone. We typically substitute after every 2 possessions - ie one offensive and one defensive drive.

Scoreboard Based Officiating: With our focus engagement & enjoyment, we use our unique “Scoreboard Based Officiating System” to strive for balanced games, energized experiences, epic conclusions and learning experiences. When appropriate, our refs base their calls in the interest of promoting “scoreboard balance”. Basically, tie and close games are called straight. But when one team gets a lead, and there is a close call, it goes to the team that is behind. The wider the margin on the scoreboard, the more discretion refs have with balancing calls. We
explain to the players we do this only when appropriate and when we do it is to help make the games as enjoyable as possible for everyone. While this system has been successful for many
years, it occasionally may frustrate players, which we manage and consider as valuable life lessons and character builders.

Game Conclusions: We vary the way we conclude games based on the circumstances. When we have close games (within 1 score - difference of 8 points or less) we typically conclude games
based on possessions rather than the clock. For example, as the final minutes approach, if a team has the ball, and is behind in the score, we will typically inform both teams - if the defense stops you - they win - this is your last drive. Depending on time, and who had first possession, we may also say and if you score the other team will have one final drive to try to score and win. We make sure both teams know the arrangement and then let them play it out. Tie games are allowed (and desired although the kids never like them - during the regular season).
