Michael Sudhalter, CHISD Communications Coordinator, approached the Foundation with a request to set up an Annual Named Scholarship fund. In his words, "The Evangeline Paige Sudhalter Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship to honor the memory of our precious daughter who was stillborn in November 2015. We will reward two Cedar Hill ISD seniors who wish to study Medicine or Counseling in college." The Foundation accepted the challenge and set up a restricted fund in 1st quarter of 2021 for this purpose and provided the necessary fundraising and administrative support needed to make this scholarship a reality for our 2021 scholarship awards. In the spring of 2021 the first two scholarship were awarded in the amount of $250 each. The 2021-2022 campaign raised more money and two $1,200 scholarships were awarded. The 2022-2023 campaign allowed us to award two $2,000 scholarships. The 2023-2024 campaign allowed us to award two $2,500 scholarships, marking the third consecutive year of an increase in the scholarship amount.

Founded in 2002, the Cedar Hill ISD Education foundation is an independent non-profit organization. By the end of May, 2023, the foundation had disbursed over $1,000,000 in funds in support of our mission. Included in this figure was the $41,955 check given to CHISD on May 19, 2022 for the Waterford Oaks Elementary Playground project.
