The CJC was created to be a place of comfort and healing for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or trauma. Before centers like ours existed, children had to retell their painful experiences multiple times—to police officers, social workers, attorneys, and others—often in intimidating settings like police stations or courthouses. Each retelling added to their trauma.

Now, thanks to the CJC, children only have to tell their story in a safe, child-friendly environment designed just for them. Instead of cold, sterile rooms, they are welcomed into a warm space with soft couches, colorful artwork, and activity kits filled with comforting items like coloring books, fidgets, and stuffed animals. A trained forensic interviewer gently guides them through the process, ensuring they feel heard and supported.

But our work doesn’t stop there. We provide advocacy, resources, and support to families navigating the aftermath of abuse. We work alongside law enforcement, child protective services, medical professionals, and therapists to support that child through the criminal justice process—always keeping their well-being at the center of everything we do.

The Children’s Justice Center is a place of hope and healing, but we can’t do it alone. With the support of our community we can continue to offer children safety, comfort, and a path toward healing.
