In May 2021, XULA Cheer launched a historic partnership with Orijin Bees to create dolls that proudly represent Xavier University cheerleaders. Complete with the brand’s signature curly hair and Xavier’s iconic white and gold uniforms, these dolls became a symbol of representation, pride, and possibility.

Now, in our Centennial Year, we are proud to relaunch the collection — this time, introducing boy dolls for the very first time.

🌟 The “I See Me” Campaign

Representation matters. In competitive cheerleading, Black athletes are often underrepresented and underestimated.These dolls serve as more than toys — they are affirmations for every child who picks one up, reminding them that their curls, their skin, and their presence belong on every stage.

Melissa Orijin, founder of Orijin Bees, created the doll line after noticing her daughter begin to prefer fairer-skinned dolls once she started school. “They are a way for children to take pride in their heritage, celebrate their identity, and embrace their cultural roots.”

At Xavier, this campaign extends that same vision: creating safe spaces, affirming students’ full identities, and showing that beyond academics, Xavierites are whole human beings with dreams, talents, and joy.

Coach Caston remembers gifting the first doll to a little girl during Xavier’s 2021 homecoming parade:

“I saw her not too long ago playing with the doll on her porch and I could tell it really resonated with her. I cried because, for me, that was a sure sign that we are doing the right thing. We did more than gift her a new toy. We inspired a dream.”
