Upon graduating from Wittenberg University, I planted new roots in Columbus, Ohio — specifically on the Near East Side, in the heart of a community rich in history, resilience, and spirit. My very first home was in the East High School neighborhood, where I quickly sought out a place that aligned with my passion for fitness, wellness, and community. That place was the Eldon & Elsie Ward YMCA. What began as simply a neighborhood gym soon became much more. It became a second home — a place of strength, connection, and belonging. Over nearly a decade living in the area, the YMCA was not just a part of my routine, it became part of my life’s journey. When I welcomed my daughter into the world, this YMCA became her very first Y — the place where our family’s legacy of health and community began. As my own passion for healthy living deepened, so did my desire to give back. It felt only natural to support the YMCA that had supported me — physically, emotionally, and communally — during some of the most formative years of my life. The Eldon & Elsie Ward YMCA is more than brick and mortar. It is a place where children find mentors, families find support, and individuals discover purpose. It is where futures are shaped, health is restored, and hope is renewed. That’s why I give.
