The Y has been an integral part of my life for most of the 42 years that I have lived in Columbus. It started as my place to work out, where I joined group fitness classes and have made great friends. Once I had children, it became a place where they learned how to play various sports and swim. As they began school, the before and after school care program became a lifesaver! The fabulous staff not only kept them engaged, but they also transported them to and from school. Then came summer camp and Camp Wilson (overnight camp) - experiences no child should miss out on! Both of my children also worked at the Y, when they turned 16. Oh, and, 10 1/2 years ago, I married a Y guy (Paul Weber)! I also volunteer at the Y - from community events (like Walk with a Doc) to Breakfast with Santa to helping with landscaping to sitting on the North Y board. It is great giving back! I have seen what wonderful things our Y does in the community and want that to continue. Our annual campaign, which those of us that have been around for a while call "People Helping People", is the way we can keep doing great things. This campaign is to help those that need the Y services and can not necessarily afford it. At the Y, no one will be turned away due to an inability to pay. I give to the Y. Will you??
