"Why I Give Back to the YMCA"

I believe deeply in the mission of the YMCA and the tremendous support it provides throughout our community. I’ve seen firsthand how life-changing that support can be—because it changed my life.

When my children were young, I was a single parent living on a modest income. Life was challenging, and extras like swim lessons or a family gym membership just weren’t possible—until the YMCA stepped in. Through the financial assistance program, we were able to access a YMCA membership, swim lessons, and after school programs for my children.

It wasn’t just about swimming. It was about giving my children a safe, healthy place to grow and thrive, and giving me the peace of mind that we had a supportive community behind us. That experience stayed with me. Now, I want to give back and share my story—because I know there are many families out there just like mine.
