For many years the Scurry County Museum has had the honor displayVeterans exhibit. This exhibit honors those that have served in the community. Due to covid, we could not display any artifacts in the collection. Instead, we reached out to our veterans to tell their stories. This year we want to do both in a new and engaging way. So, we are calling on our community to help the museum preserve and present our Veteran's collection this November.

The museum has always been resourceful and done its best with what it has. This year we want to be able to present our artifacts that have been donated on display for friends and family to see. To do so, we need the archival level material and display equipment. It is a costly venture that ultimately will allow us to serve our community better as we work towards our mission of preserving history for future generations. These artifacts went through a lot when they were active, which makes them more susceptible to the elements that will compromise their integrity. Once artifacts reach a point of degradation, we can no longer put them on display.

We ask our community to contribute to this campaign so the museum can steward an awe-inspiring veterans exhibit, and preserve these irreplaceable artifacts for generations to come. In our collection we have over 75 complete uniforms, a disarmed grenade, multiple hats and helmets, badges, and medals.
