It’s almost Summer time…and for high school students that means gaining work (and life) experience, whether at a paid summer job or through an internship. YouthNet helps Columbia High School students gain that experience through our Internship/Mentor Program. With your support, YouthNet will be able to offer stipends to our interns, allowing them to explore new fields and opportunities instead of settling on a summer job merely for a paycheck.

The YouthNet Summer Internship/Mentor Program is in its 9th year and continues to grow and succeed. Mentors are cultivated from local non-profits, government agencies and retail establishments in the South Orange/Maplewood community. Interns are Columbia High School students.

Before an internship begins, students attend a series of workshops that help them with real-world skills like preparing a resume, completing an application, interview skills, networking and workplace behavior.

Mentors and interns are matched using preference skills, fields, or goals and availability. The goal of the program is a mutually beneficial experience for both mentors and interns.

With your donation, YouthNet will be able to offer stipends to our interns increasing our pool of potential applicants and removing financial barriers for those students who depend on a salaried position.
