For more than a decade, YouthNet has helped build a community where young people in Maplewood & South Orange develop a sense of belonging and find inspiration. Our middle school after-school clubs and summer internships seek to prepare our children to fulfill their potential.

The success and well-being of our two town’s children are at the heart of everything we do at YouthNet. Since 2014, over 12,000 students have participated in one of our clubs!

We have done so much in the past 10 years; and we can’t do it without your support.

The 2024 - 2025 academic year was a period of renewed commitment and expanded impact:

More than 900 children participated in 77 after school clubs at both SOMS and MMS providing a place to make new friends, explore new interests and discover new parts of themselves.
Clubs like Books & Banter, Pickle Ball, Stay Late and Create, Murder Mystery, Spectrum, Anime, Movie Production, Empowerment and Steppers, are returning favorites. In 2025, we established more clubs focusing on STEM like Engineering and Robotics!
25 CHS students again participated in our Summer Internship Program, providing real life experiences in businesses and organizations throughout our two towns.
270 students played ball in the Open Gym program at CHS. The program in collaboration with the Maplewood and South Orange Police Departments has proven year after year that it fosters feelings of trust, empathy, and community on both sides.
And SO MANY MORE things are happening at YouthNet!

Additional funding from foundations enabled YouthNet to expand our programming in children’s mental health, emotional readiness, and stress management in this critical period in their social and academic life.
