Free Bleed is a grassroots campaign turning local art into direct action against period poverty in Amarillo-area schools.

Founded by community organizer Kendra Kay, Free Bleed brings artists and advocates together to raise funds for menstrual products—and challenge the silence and shame that still surrounds menstruation.

Through pop-up art shows and donations, we raise money to purchase bulk period supplies for students in need. These products are distributed directly to Amarillo ISD and surrounding campuses—where access is often inconsistent or entirely absent.

Here’s how it works:
🎨 Local artists donate work.
🖼 Community members buy that work at exhibitions and events.
💸 90% of each sale funds menstrual product purchases.
🏫 Those products are distributed directly to local schools.
🔁 We track everything—what comes in, what goes out, and who gets helped.

The problem:
In Texas, public schools are not required to provide menstrual products. That leaves students—especially middle and high schoolers—scrambling. Many miss class, activities, or suffer social shame simply for having a normal cycle.

Free Bleed exists to change that.
We believe period products should be as accessible as toilet paper in public spaces, especially schools. And we believe that art can fund that access—and open up new conversations along the way.

Your donation does real work:

$10 = one box of pads
$25 = a full month of supplies for one student
$50 = products for multiple students across a campus
$1500 = our monthly goal to support all participating schools

Why art?
Because art tells stories. Art sparks connection. Art gets people in the room—then helps them see the world a little differently. Free Bleed isn’t just about raising money. It’s about shifting culture, ending stigma, and reminding our young people that their needs matter.
