We recently lost the father of one of our students and this fund has been established to honor his memory.

Aaron Joseph Romo, 50, passed away in his own home on September 20, 2024 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Born on June 17, 1974, in El Centro CA, Aaron was the eldest son of Jose and Danna Romo. He was raised in the farm country of California's Imperial Valley. After graduating high school, Aaron left small town life behind to travel and experience everything the world had to offer. He was a natural born artist who lived life as a performance and loved all types of music, especially punk. Aaron brought (mostly) adorable chaos everywhere he went and he had friends across North America, including San Diego CA, Dallas and Austin TX, Vancouver BC, and Portland OR. In the last 15 years of his life he settled in Pittsburgh PA to be near his daughter.

Aaron struggled with schizophrenia in his later years. While it changed his personality dramatically, it didn't defeat him and he achieved many goals through hard work and determination. Most importantly, he learned and demonstrated that no matter the struggles you face, it's possible to be kind and respectful to your loved ones.

Aaron is survived by his parents Jose and Danna Romo, brother Antonio Romo, daughter Consuelo Romo, Consuelo's mother and Aaron's longtime friend Naomi Auth, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Aaron's ashes are interred under a serviceberry tree in Penn Forest Natural Burial Park in Verona, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a fund established in his memory with Consuelo's school, City of Bridges High School in Pittsburgh PA.
