In many parts of the world, especially in low and middle-income countries like Uganda, millions of people face significant barriers to accessing basic healthcare. For those living more than 5 kilometres from the nearest health facility, access to healthcare is severely limited, leading to poorer health outcomes.

Meanwhile, public health systems in Uganda and other parts of Africa are tasked with serving millions of people, but are constrained by limited resources. With massive cuts in global foreign assistance, the need to bring healthcare to underserved communities is even more critical.

Since its founding in 2014, Health Access Connect (HAC) has been dedicated to linking remote communities to healthcare. We focus on improving access to healthcare in these underserved areas by building capacity within public health systems and empowering the communities they serve.

We are hosting our annual 5 km virtual walkathon for 2025! We need to raise $20,000 to bring healthcare closer to at least 20 remote communities in Uganda.

How will the funds be used?

$10,000 to move into new communities
$4,000 for basic equipment like washing stations, privacy curtains, megaphones
$6,000 for ongoing support to ensure that outreaches can continue without HAC staff present
