Born in the chaotic climate of early 20's Seattle, La fem records was founded by musician/producer Francesca Eluhu. Representing a new generation of Seattle music, La fem records stems from the need to amplify and support QTBIPOC artists. With roots in experimental R&B, La fem's small roster branches americana, indie, pop, neoclassical, jazz, neo-soul and electro-soul. La fem artists are genre-diverse, presenting eclectic fusions of sound meant to challenge traditional boundaries of genre. The result is music "pour la fin du temps"; a reflection of life in the end times.

Fem du lit started recording their debut album at Mysterious Red X in 2023. Samuel Wesner (studio & mixing engineer) was an integral part of the making of the album, along with Rachel Field from Resonant Mastering, and several musicians signed to La fem including KUKRI (Liu Wenbao), Yearn (Lily M Tahar), and members of psychedelic neo-soul band Day Soul Exquisite. As a recipient Seattle's Office of Arts & Culture City Artist Grant, Francesca Eluhu/ Fem du lit was able to finance the creation of their album. The album examines the stigma of queerness in the African diaspora and the ruptures in family relationships that ensue. The story arc takes the listener on a journey, from the joys of family, to defiant romances, domestic abuse, and patrilineal heartbreak. Titled using the latin etymology, STIGMATA juxtaposes religious and occult motifs interwoven throughout the 13-song full-length album.

With vocals resembling Anita Baker and Kadhja Bonet, the album showcases Fem du lit’s bilingual lyricism. Their afro-futuristic spin on production adds to the elemental feeling of a spiral decoding inherited trauma. This apocalyptic compilation of songs ties together heavy political topics with hypnotic, psychedelic instrumentation to soothe the soul in the face of environmental catastrophe.

STIGMATA has already garnered over +5,400 streams on Spotify in the first month of its release, along with media coverage from Sound v System, Earmilk, The Real Gone, and more.
