This year, Alyssa is choosing to celebrate her 40th birthday in a truly meaningful way. Instead of gifts, she’s inviting her friends and family to stand with her in supporting some of the most vulnerable youth in our community.

Every dollar raised will help fulfill the heartfelt wishes of youth in foster care— everyday items any young person would hope for, yet too often go unmet. By giving, you’re not just contributing a gift; you’re reminding these youth that they are seen, valued, and deserving of joy. We've included two stories and wish lists below.

Syrina's (12 y/o)

Her Story (written by her caregiver):

Syrina is a beautiful 12-year-old with lovely curly hair. She is in 7th grade, she enjoys tumbling and is determined to master her backflips. A cheerleader for her school, she also loves video games and chatting or should we say laughing/giggling with her friends.

We met Syrina when she was just seven and a half months old, describing her as the perfect China doll. She came home with us the first night we met her, and by 15 months old, she had her own room in our home. Sadly, her biological mother struggled with addiction, coming in and out of Syrina's life, often making promises she never keeps. Sometimes, to this day, Syrina chooses not to communicate with her when she calls or text.

Regarding her biological father, Syrina met him once at age three. She met him again when we started the litigation process. In which we learned who he was and that he spent more than half of Syrina’s life incarcerated. She feels forced to maintain a relationship with him, describing him as rude and mean. Despite our encouragement, she is scared that her father will take her away from the only home she has ever known, as he has told her she will be moving to Georgia with him and will never see us again.

Even with all of this, Syrina has a delightful sense of humor and a contagious laugh. A true girly girl, she spends hours at her vanity doing her hair and skincare. She is loving and responsible, caring for her turtle, tiny dog, and bigger bunny.

Despite her challenges and fears. We are grateful every day that God brought her into our lives, and we couldn’t imagine life without her!

Delilah's Story (17 y/o)

Her story:

On November 4, 2024, Ms. Debra opened her heart and home as a licensed foster parent. Just ten days later, she welcomed Delilah and her baby girl, Wylene, with open arms. Even though Wylene is not a dependent child and Ms. Debra receives no financial support for her care, she never hesitated to provide love, stability, and everything they needed to feel safe.

From day one, Ms. Debra has gone above and beyond, creating a nurturing environment where Delilah can grow as a mother and Wylene can thrive. Her dedication is a true example of compassion and selflessness.

This wish list reflects not only Delilah’s hopes and needs but also those of her baby, ensuring they both have the essentials and comforts to continue building a brighter future together.
