Another "thank you" for a UFL General Fund purchase.

An SBU unit thanked you last week for the gear you supplied to them. This week, the 4th Battalion of the 39th Coastal Defense Brigade sent these pictures to thank you for the Starlink mini, two Ecoflow powerbanks, and some radio batteries that your general fund bought them.

Yesterday was Memorial Day in the USA, a day for remembrance and honoring the US military personnel who died while serving in the US Armed Forces.

We thought that this would be an appropriate reminder to remember the tens of thousands Ukrainians killed by russian invaders since the 2014 invasion of Crimea.

$2 Tuesday

As always, we start by offering our $2 raffle ticket to whet your appetite. This week we have a three patch pack:

You should be familiar with the SOF reconnaissance group "Puma", and the holly tryzub morale patch is self-explanatory, but the top patch needs some explanation; I definitely needed one!

UFL doesn't work alone. We cooperate with numerous volunteers and Ukraine aid groups, all to ensure that we can provide the most help in the most efficient way possible. Along with long-standing partners like Protect A Volunteer and Renegade Relief Runners, UFL has recently worked with Front line plus rear to assist Ukraine. This is their patch.

$5 Cossack collection

This collection celebrating the Ukrainian Cossack tradition is truly awesome!

As Ukraine itself writes, the Cossacks play a vital part is Ukraine's psyche.:

"Ukrainian Cossacks were brave warriors who, under the leadership of great commanders, defended the independence of the Ukrainian state for centuries. They were called “free people” and “knights of the Ukrainian steppes” for their bravery, desire for freedom, and immortal courage.

Cossacks can be called “brothers in arms” of Japanese samurai, European knights, and cowboys of the Wild West for their fighting excellence, loyalty, heroism, and short temper."

The centerpiece of this collection is an embossed metal "picture" (28cm x 18cm) depicting the 1891 painting "Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks" by Ilya Repin. In case you haven't seen it, here is a hilarious reading of the written exchange between the Ottomans and Cossacks that inspired the painting.

We also have a 5-hryvnia coin bearing the Cossack, along with a unit patch from the 65th Mechanized Brigade also featuring a Cossack. Additionally, there is also a Ukrainian tryzub flag patch and a sheet of commemorative Ukrainian stamps.

In closing:

The war drags on, claiming more Ukrainian lives every day. Every day the Ukrainians remind us of their Cossack history, showing their fortitude and fighting spirit.
