Tygh Valley Bluegrass (produced by Shaniko Music Sanctuary) Believes in:

Creating interest in the community through live performances
Providing students with access to well-functioning instruments
Offering educational support to students and local music teachers, alike.

Our goals for the 2025-2026 School Year:

Schedule 1 Fall & 1 Spring Performance for attendance by entire student body
Acquire 5 new instruments for kids
Offer a series of 5-private lessons to 3 kids

A message from Marty Hansen, Director of Music at South Wasco County Schools:

“South Wasco County School is a large district, serving students from the cities of Maupin, Tygh Valley, Wamic, Pine Hollow, Shaniko and Antelope. We teach about 180 kids -- kindergarten through 12th grade -- and we provide music for all of them.

With your donations throughout the past 3 years, we’ve been able to purchase things like a beautiful keyboard to play in the classroom, several guitars, strings, instrument repair kits and music. Your money really does go straight to the kids. It makes a huge difference... because, as you know, public schools are not very well funded -- especially music departments.

About 95% of our budget comes from your donations, and we extend a huge thank you for your generosity.”
