Why I’m Doing This
I’m the child of two immigrant parents who came to the U.S. when I was just a preschooler. Growing up, I watched social injustices impact my family and people around me. For a long time, I felt like there wasn’t much I could do — so I stayed quiet.
That doesn’t sit right with me anymore.
The Immigrant Support Fund, organized by Austin Mutual Aid, has raised over $25k so far — with over 300 supporters — toward a $250,000 goal. The fund has already helped dozens of people and will continue to.
That money has gone toward urgent needs like electric bills, rent and housing instability, lost wages from wage theft, and families navigating detention or deportation threats. Funds are often redistributed within 24–48 hours.
This is direct, immediate support.
I’ve committed to raising $5,000 toward this effort. I appreciate every single person who has stepped in already.
