Ranelle Rose Bennett, a 34-year-old mother from Hogback, New Mexico, on the Navajo Nation, went missing from her home on June 15, 2021. Her father, Jay Bennett, has said law enforcement has left the family frustrated, so he and relatives have taken up the search themselves — "we have just been going out, and out, and out looking for her and we're not succeeding."

Ranelle's brother Jerold moved back to New Mexico from Colorado to help search, chasing down every tip that comes in. Months after she vanished, the family found Ranelle's sweater and shoes on a mesa north of Shiprock during one of their own searches, a discovery that offered no real answers. Her sister Georgiana has become a tireless advocate, even handing out water bottles printed with Ranelle's photo, and has said, "There are kids out here hurting, there are mothers out here hurting. What if it was their children?"
