A standard wheelchair stops where the pavement ends. For Vermonters living with paralysis and mobility limitations, that means the trail, the beach and the lakeshore are off limits, and so is the outing with family and friends.

Big Beautiful Life already runs two Extreme Motus All-Terrain Wheelchairs. We've made a public promise to add a fleet of five or more, placed at Adventure Chair Hubs in community parks and nature centers across northern Vermont. Families won't have to buy, store or haul a chair. They'll find one waiting at the trailhead.

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation has sponsored two co-branded chairs and North Country Federal Credit Union has sponsored a 3 and signed on as our program sponsor again this year! Your gift funds the last two chairs and the accessories that make them trail-ready.

The Adventure Chair Program is named in memory of Nicole Noonan, whose beautiful smile and eagerness to get out and explore was contagious and inspires out work every day. Every chair placed carries her name out onto the trails.

What a hub provides

An all-terrain wheelchair stored at the place of use, free to borrow in every season.
A QR code on each chair that opens the required training before checkout.
Regular cleaning and maintenance between uses.
Capacity for group outings, independent family adventures and partner programs.

Year 1 goal: 120 people living with paralysis or mobility limitations reach the outdoors, joined by about 240 caregivers and family members.g connection, resilience, light and legacy.
