Thumper "Thumpy’s" Next Phase: Her Dental! 🩷

UPDATE: 4/22/26: Thumper is scheduled mid-May for her dental work!! Yay! Thanks to you, we raised $900 for her wellness exams, but we are still short on funding her dental which will cost up to $1,021.

This will cover her:

Cleaning
Full dental X-rays
Possible extractions (worst-case within dental scope)

UPDATE 4/16/26: The mass was an abscess and has resolved with antibiotics. It's been a few weeks and it hasn't flared up again, so hopefully that's no longer an issue. Now it's only the dental care. She's in great shape otherwise.

Thumper is scheduled for her dental mid-May and we are still short of funds for her. Her estimate below breaks out her dental estimate.

A couple weeks ago, we received updates from her foster mom. Thumpy is doing incredibly well. She is at a healthy weight, building strength, and finally enjoying life.

Her foster mom shared this update with us:
“Thumpy is doing extremely well. She is up to about 45 minutes of walking each day, and the weakness in her back end is no longer obvious. She even takes little gallops just for fun. She dances when I pull out her leash, her skin is so much healthier, and she truly glows. Her head is up, her tail is up, and she acts like a joyful girl.”

If you have ever loved a senior dog, you know how special they are.

Meet Thumper, a 12-year-old female pittie whose beloved owner recently passed away. Thankfully, a kind neighbor who knew both Thumper and her owner stepped forward and welcomed Thumper into her home. She cares deeply about Thumper and wanted to make sure she would never be abandoned or end up in a shelter.

When she reached out to us about Thumper, we knew we wanted to step in and help.

Rescue is not only about finding the perfect home. Sometimes it is simply about making sure a dog is safe, loved, and cared for during the time they have left.

Thumper is now in our foster program. She is safe, loved, and comfortable, which is exactly where a senior pup like her should be, especially with her life changes.

We took Thumper to our vet for a senior exam which included getting diagnostics, x-rays, vaccines, and other medical care she needed. The initial estimate for just one visit is $1,000, and that is just the starting point. Thumper will need to go back to the vet for more care which requires care to some broken teeth and a mass removal. We are awaiting an estimate for that part.

We want to help ensure Thumper gets the care she deserves without placing the burden on the kind neighbor who stepped up to love her.
