Join the American Jewish Alliance for a powerful conversation between Holocaust survivor Sami Steigmann and former neo-Nazi leader Jeff Schoep. Through an open dialogue, Sami and Jeff will interview one another and explore their vastly different experiences with antisemitism, extremism, survival, transformation, and the power of human connection. The conversation will offer a unique opportunity to examine hate from two very different perspectives while exploring what it takes to confront prejudice, create meaningful change, and build understanding. The event will conclude with a live audience Q&A.

About Sami Steigmann

Sami Steigmann is a Holocaust survivor, educator, and motivational speaker. Born in 1939 in what is now western Ukraine, Sami was imprisoned with his parents in the Mogilev-Podolsky labor camp in Transnistria, where he endured starvation, brutal conditions, and Nazi medical experimentation as a young child. After surviving the Holocaust, Sami later served in the Israeli Air Force before immigrating to the United States and building a new life. Since 2008, he has spoken to more than 250,000 students and community members, sharing his experiences and lessons about courage, gratitude, compassion, and hope.

About Jeff Schoep

Jeff Schoep is a former leader of one of America's largest neo-Nazi organizations who has since dedicated his life to combating extremism and division. After more than two decades within the extremist movement, Jeff walked away and began rebuilding his life around accountability, reconciliation, and understanding. Today, he speaks and consults on extremism, radicalization, conflict resolution, and community healing. His memoir, American Nazi: From Hate to Humanity, chronicles his transformation and journey away from hate. His work focuses on using dialogue and human connection to reduce bias, de-escalate conflict, and help prevent radicalization.
