For Al Fearn, sailing was never just about the wind, the water, or the boats. It was about the people—the young sailors who stepped onto a dock for the first time, unsure of themselves, only to leave the water with confidence, skill, and a lifelong love for the sport. Al believed that sailing should be for everyone, not just those who could afford it. He dedicated his life to making that vision a reality.

As the founder of Regatta Point, Al created more than a sailing program—he built a community. For decades, he welcomed children from all walks of life, teaching them not only how to navigate the water, but also how to navigate life with resilience, teamwork, and determination. To Al, the joy of sailing was something to be shared, and he worked tirelessly to remove barriers that might keep a child from experiencing it.

In that spirit, Al’s family invites you to honor his memory by supporting a cause that was so close to his heart. Instead of sending flowers, please consider making a donation to help reduce or eliminate financial barriers for young sailors. Your contribution will ensure that more children, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to set sail.
