When Chauncey lost his job and then his home in California, the two of them stayed together in his car, because "nobody takes animals, basically." He took whatever work let him park close enough to check on his best friend.

People told him, "He's just a cat." If you've ever loved a pet, you know better. They are family.

He gave me a reason to go on," Chauncey says.

Chauncey wouldn't leave his buddy behind. When one shelter said "no problem," he and Snicklefritz finally had a safe place to land. Today, Chauncey has a steady job, a house, and his best friend waiting at his door.

You can make that ending ordinary.

My Dog Is My Home trains shelters and housing providers to welcome people and their animals together, and we advocate across the country so "no problem" becomes the answer for everyone seeking shelter with their pet family.

No one should have to choose between a safe place to sleep and their beloved pet.

Between now and October 25, the people who know this organization best are each raising money through their own pages, working toward a combined $15,000. Will you help?

Here's what you make possible

$25: Comfort for pets in emergency housing. Your gift of $25 can deliver enrichment items, like Kongs, to dogs and cats staying with their human families in emergency housing.
$50: A Storyteller's stipend. Your gift of $50 can pay for the expertise for someone with lived experience to share their story with policymakers and housing providers who can change the rules.
$100: A "Pets Welcome" policy. Your gift of $100 can help a local government or emergency housing facility develop a new policy allowing pets to stay with their human families.
$250: Trained shelter staff. Your gift of $250 can train staff so an emergency housing facility can accept pets.
$1,000: A full year of pet-inclusive emergency housing. Your gift of $1,000 can provide a full year of coaching and technical assistance so that an emergency housing facility can open its doors to pets.
