Ally Rahmani was a teacher and educator at the Hebrew Academy of Five Towns and Rockaway (HAFTR) for nearly 20 years, most recently as its Lower School Math Coordinator.

Ally saved her greatest patience for the students who needed it most. She made them laugh, made them try again, and made them feel proud of the effort, not just the answer. Years later, they still remember how she made them feel. She tutored for no reason other than to spread that confidence to as many children as possible. Ally always believed in what a child could do and could be, even when, in that moment, they couldn’t yet. Her belief in every child helped them believe in themselves.

The Rahmani family has formed the Ally Rahmani Legacy Foundation, Inc. to carry Ally’s belief forward by creating and funding initiatives that support children’s educational and social development through programs that inspire and build confidence. The Foundation aims to provide one-on-one tutoring scholarships, extracurricular activity scholarships, teacher grants, and funding for other programs and events that build confidence and make learning joyful. Any programs that are created will be developed in partnership with local schools, teachers, and organizations that align with this mission, and their scope will depend on the funds raised. The foundation may also make grants to other charitable organizations whose work aligns with this mission.

The Foundation is an incorporated nonprofit organization and is currently seeking tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation is overseen by a board of directors, who will approve how its funds are used, and it is committed to full transparency, including sharing the total funds raised, how those funds are spent, and the programs, projects, and organizations it supports. A segregated fund in Ally’s memory has also been established at the Rahmani's synagogue, Irving Place Minyan (IPM), to support the mission described above. Donations to the Ally Rahmani fund at IPM can be made here on this givebutter campaign site. Any donations to IPM's Ally Rahmani fund here at www.givebutter.com/allyrahmani are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by applicable law and will be used only to support the mission above and not for any other purpose.

Every gift will help a child find the confidence Ally gave to so many. Please join in donating in support of Ally.
