Amanda Knox stands as one of the most compelling voices in criminal justice reform today. Her personal journey through wrongful conviction to freedom has transformed her into a powerful advocate for justice system reform and media ethics.

Between 2007 and 2015, Amanda spent nearly four years in an Italian prison and endured eight years on trial for a murder she didn't commit. Her case captured international attention and highlighted critical issues in criminal justice systems worldwide.

Amanda is the author of the New York Times best-selling memoir, Waiting to Be Heard, which chronicles her harrowing experience in the Italian justice system. Her latest book, FREE: My Search for Meaning, was released in March 2025.

As a journalist and public speaker, Amanda brings clarity and insight to complex issues of justice reform. Together with her partner Christopher Robinson, she co-hosts the thought-provoking podcast Hard Knox.

ABOUT THE TENNESSEE INNOCENCE PROJECT

The mission of the Tennessee Innocence Project (TIP) is to free innocent people wrongfully convicted of crimes they did not commit, to raise awareness of this pressing issue, and to drive policy reforms that prevent future wrongful convictions. In a little over five years, TIP has helped to secure nine exonerations, accounting for a total of 237 years lost behind bars.

Founded in 2019, the Tennessee Innocence Project (TIP) is the state's first full-time innocence organization. We focus on four critical areas:

Fighting for the wrongfully convicted – We investigate and litigate innocence cases to free innocent individuals from Tennessee's prisons, tackling issues like mistaken eyewitness identifications, false confessions, unethical official conduct, and inadequate legal representation.
Educating the next generation – We train law students and attorneys to recognize and prevent wrongful convictions through hands-on experience and specialized training.
Driving meaningful change – We advocate for laws that help uncover wrongful convictions and create pathways to justice for those who have been unjustly imprisoned.
Supporting exonerees post-release – We connect exonerees with resources that help them rebuild their lives in the free world, addressing the unique challenges they face after years of wrongful imprisonment.
