On behalf of the Alliance to Mobilize Our Resistance (AMOR) we are reaching out to request help for a member of the community, Erin Orellana.

Erin is 23 years old and emigrated from Honduras 3 years ago.

He arrived at the US border in December 2019 asking for asylum at the border based on his sexual orientation and the discrimination he suffered because of it in Honduras.

Once he was in detention for 3 months, he managed to get out and came to Rhode Island to live with a family that sponsored him.

Unfortunately, just after arriving in Rhode Island, the pandemic started, so his immigration case was postponed to get his papers. As of today, he is still waiting, and the date the court has given him to advance his application is not until May 2023.

At the moment, he is living in Rhode Island with his boyfriend, but it is very difficult and frustrating to continue living without a work permit because the boyfriend is supporting Erin and his mom on his own, since Erin cannot work.

Recently, Erin spoke with a new attorney in Providence, who says it's possible to reach an agreement with the court to move the work permit process forward more quickly. He says he has had great success with LGBT immigration cases.

The lawyer informed him that the costs for the advanced immigration process will cost $7,500 in total. He would need to pay a $2,500 deposit now, and then pay the rest a year from now, which would be $420 a month. Right now, Erin's boyfriend only has a few hundred dollars he can afford, and they don't have other family members to help them.

Hi, my name is Erin Orellana.

I am reaching out to this AMOR community about my immigration case. I emigrated from my country of origin, Honduras, since January 14th, 2019 with my end goal of arriving in the US to fulfill my dream of receiving my residence and be able to work. I was being persecuted for being a member of the LGBTQ community in my country. Due to the rules of the government, the police, and the influences of the gangs LGBTQ are denied the right to be free. Due to this reason, I fled and arrived at the US / Mexico border totally alone on December 25th, 2019. I met up with the family who received me and have been staying in Cumberland, RI. Since then, my lawyer, Robert Wat submitted my work permit application. To this day, the process is still pending on the waiting list and he told me I could be waiting up to another 12 months. I have consulted with another lawyer, Joseph Molina Flyn who is based in Providence. This lawyer promised to take my case. For me, having my residence is the highest priority so I can begin to work and be able to support myself and my basic needs. My lawyer is asking me for $7,500 to resolve my case. I'm asking for anyone to be able to donate what they can. I am sincerely grateful. Thank you so much.

Les estoy escribiendo para solicitar ayuda para un miembro de la comunidad, Erin Orellana.

Erin tiene 23 años y emigró de Honduras hace 3 años.

Él llegó a la frontera de los Estados Unidos en el Diciembre de 2019 pidiendo asilo en la frontera basado en su orientación sexual y la discriminación que sufrió por ella en Honduras.

Una vez que estuvo en detención por 3 meses, logró salir y llegó a Rhode Island para vivir con una familia que lo patrocinó.

Desafortunadamente, justo después de llegar a Rhode Island, comenzó la pandemia, entonces se aplazó el proceso de su caso migratorio para conseguir sus papeles. Hasta la fecha de hoy, todavía sigue esperando, y la fecha que le ha dado la corte para avanzar en su aplicación no es hasta mayo de 2023.

Por el momento, está viviendo en Rhode Island con su novio, pero es muy difícil y frustrante seguir viviendo sin permiso de trabajo, porque el novio por su cuenta está apoyando a Erin y su mamá, ya que Erin no puede trabajar.

Recientemente, Erin ha hablado con un abogado nuevo en Providence, que dice que es posible llegar a un acuerdo con la corte para adelantar el proceso para sacar el permiso de trabajo más rápido. El dice que ha tenido mucho éxito con los casos migratorios de gente de la comunidad LGBT.

El abogado le informó que los costos para el proceso adelantado de migración costarán $7,500 en total. Se necesitaría pagar un depósito de $2,500 ahora, y después pagar el resto dentro de un año, lo cual sería $420 al mes. En este momento, el novio de Erin solo tiene unos cientos de dólares que puede pagar, y no tienen a otros familiares que les puedan ayudar.

Hola me llamo Erin Orellana,

Estoy comunicando con ustedes debido a mi caso de inmigración. Emigre de mi país de origen, Honduras, desde el 14 de enero de 2019 con el fin de llegar aquí a Estados Unidos y cumplir mi sueño de poder tener mi residencia y poder trabajar. He sido perseguido por ser miembro de la Comunidad LGBTQ la cual en mi país Honduras debido a las normas del gobierno, la policía, y las malas influencias de las pandillas está denegado el derecho a ser libre. En este sentido llegué aquí totalmente solo el 25 de diciembre de 2019 con la familia con quien estuve en Cumberland que me recibió. Desde esos días mi abogado Robert Wat sometió mi permiso de trabajo. Hasta la fecha de hoy, el proceso sigue en lista de espera y me ha dicho que podría esperar 12 meses más. He consultado con otro abogado el cual su nombre es, Joseph Molina Flyn en providence este abogado me promete seguir mi caso al pie de la letra y adelantarlo. Para mí, tener mi residencia es lo más importante. Él me está solicitando $7,500 para resolverlo sería posible contar con ustedes para la colaboración se agradece de corazón con lo que se pueda.
