In memory of the amazing Ronald Andrew Morris (Andy) who sadly passed away on 12th October 2022 from VCP disease, we are raising funds to benefit Cure VCP Disease's rare disease efforts. Join us in honour of his legacy through our efforts to drive awareness and education about his disease.

In Loving Memory of Andy Morris:
During his 50s and 60s, Andy had an ongoing battle between his body and his mind. By appearance, you could see that he had become less able, but if you were lucky enough to have a conversation with him, you could see his mind and his smile was the brightest in any room. He always remained determined and independent and wouldn’t let his condition define him or his life, and neither should we, as he was a man full to the brim with love and joy.

About Cure VCP Disease:
Cure VCP Disease is a patient advocacy organization dedicated to driving the development of a cure for valosin-containing protein associated multisystem proteinopathy. The disease also known as IBMPFD (Inclusion Body Myopathy, Early Onset Paget’s Disease of Bone and Frontotemporal Dementia), but we call it VCP disease. It is an adult-onset and hereditary, meaning that it runs in families, but people don't develop symptoms until they are adults. This debilitating disease can affect any combination of a patients’ muscles, bones and brain and can cause degenerative diseases including ALS, frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson’s, and Charcot-Marie Tooth.

Cure VCP Disease is led by VCP disease patients and care partners. We have an ambitious scientific research agenda to drive clinical trial readiness for future therapeutics. We are developing a research toolbox for drug-discovery. These are initiatives we are putting in place so that a cure can be found.

The Cure VCP Disease Research Agenda has 4 initiatives:
1) Preclinical Toolbox - Create tools to advance scientific discovery, including patient-derived cellular and animal models owned by Cure VCP Disease.
2) Longitudinal Clinical Studies - Fund Year 3 of our Functional Measures Study at Nationwide Children's Hospital and continue development of video measures for future clinical trial use.
3) Treatment Discovery - Begin funding a 3-year gene editing program and promoting drug-discovery initiatives.
4) Awareness & Education - Continue to host patient and scientific conferences and support on-going patient advocacy efforts.
