Harmony IN Horses was founded in 2022 in Indiana with a simple but powerful vision: to walk alongside youth impacted by foster care, adoption, abuse, and neglect, with horses as trusted partners in healing. The organization began by rescuing and adopting wild-born mustangs and vulnerable ponies—horses who themselves had experienced loss, fear, and transition—and pairing them with children navigating complex trauma.

Through Equine-Assisted Learning, nature-based activities, and community mentorship, Harmony IN Horses creates safe, relationship-centered spaces where youth can build emotional regulation, confidence, communication skills, and trust. The work is trauma-informed, evidence-based, and grounded in choice, connection, and dignity—for both the horses and the people.

What started with a small group of horses and a handful of children has grown into a community-based nonprofit serving youth across Indiana, partnering with child welfare agencies, schools, and mental health providers. At its heart, Harmony IN Horses exists to help break cycles of trauma, offering hope and stability today while investing in healthier futures for the next generation.
