In 2019, I moved to Stamford for work. I didn’t know anyone nearby, and I hadn’t yet found my place in my new community. Six months into my new life in Connecticut, a friend referred me to the Junior League of Stamford Norwalk with two simple words: “Trust me.” I am so glad I listened.

What began as a way to meet people became something far more meaningful. Through the Junior League, I found lasting friendships, discovered new connections to my community, and recognized leadership abilities I never knew I had. That growth and realization of what I am capable of even inspired me to change careers. Since joining, I have served as Community Director, Placement Advisor, Secretary, and now President of this incredible organization.

Along the way, I have attended countless volunteer shifts, meetings, and social events that introduced me to new people, new places, and new ways to make a difference. The Junior League helped me find not just a community, but a purpose within it.

This is my Junior League story. But it is only one of nearly 200 stories currently within our League.

Each of our active and sustaining members has a unique reason for being part of this organization. What unites us is a shared belief that when women come together, develop their leadership, and put their skills into action, meaningful change happens.

And that change extends far beyond our membership.

During the 2025–2026 League year, Junior League of Stamford Norwalk (JLSN) members turned their time, talent, and generosity into tangible support for our neighbors:

Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County: Donated more than 75 canned goods and contributed 48 volunteer hours to help restock shelves for families facing food insecurity.
One Tough Cookie: Contributed 24 volunteer hours and more than $2,000 in products for care packages supporting local children undergoing cancer treatment.
Malta House: Dedicated 44 volunteer hours to prepare and host a unique holiday boutique for families living at the organization.
Pacific House: Contributed 42 volunteer hours supporting gardening and meal service, along with more than $2,400 in products for welcome packages.

And these are just a few chapters of our story. From Toquam Magnet Elementary School, Dignity Grows, LiveGirl, and the Odyssey Family Executive Center of South Norwalk to Family Centers, Inspirica, the Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Mill River Park, and many others, JLSN members continue to show up wherever our community needs support.

Behind every volunteer hour, donated item, and community partnership is a simple promise: we are here, and we are ready to help.

But our story is far from over.

As we look ahead, JLSN is building on more than a century of community service with an ambitious new chapter. Over the next three years, we will launch a long term community impact project in partnership with an organization close to our hearts. As a founding partner of this new initiative, we will help them build the capacity to meet the growing needs of children and families in our community. More details will be shared in the near future!

This initiative represents more than a new partnership. It is an investment in our community's future and an opportunity to create lasting impact for the families who need us most. Alongside this work, we will continue supporting local nonprofits through hands-on volunteer service, collaboration, and meaningful community partnerships.

For 103 years, our community has changed in countless ways. Yet the mission of the Junior League of Stamford Norwalk remains constant: to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.

Your support makes this mission possible.

When you give to the Junior League of Stamford Norwalk, you do more than support an organization. You invest in women who are learning to lead, nonprofits working tirelessly to meet local needs, and community initiatives designed to create lasting change. You help ensure that we can continue showing up for our neighbors today while building the partnerships and leadership that will serve our community tomorrow.

For me, the Junior League began with a friend's simple encouragement to take a chance. It became a place where I found belonging, discovered my potential, and learned how much we can accomplish together.

Your gift can help write the next chapter of that story.

Please consider making a gift to the Junior League of Stamford Norwalk this year. Your generosity will strengthen our community partnerships, expand our impact, and empower the women who turn their commitment to service into meaningful action.

Thank you for believing in the power of women working together to make a difference. We are grateful to have you as part of our story, and we invite you to help shape what comes next.

Sincerely,

Madison Norwich

2026-2027 President
